As you are probably aware having visited our website, we certainly offer miniature horse interaction to our bed & breakfast guests – but if you are wondering “what else can we do in the Placerville area”…here are some ideas!

Note: This page has two sections to it – the first being general websites or places you can visit year round and the second half is an Events listing by month of things going on. If we missed your event, please let us know and we’d be delighted to add it to the calendar!

  • Gold bug Park & Mine - our Homestead holds “1 share” in this 61 acre park open daily, gold panning daily-weather permitting, from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The mine is open 12-4pm November-March and 10am-4pm April-October. Gold Bug Park is about 7 minutes from us.

  • Historic Main Street Placerville (lists shops and things to do in downtown Placerville)

  • Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is open year round from 8 am to sunset, while the museum on-site is open from 10 am to 3 pm and closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. This park is located 15-20 minutes from us.

  • The El Dorado Trail is a great hiking/biking trail with a junction only 1 mile from the B&B. The trail runs up to Camino and down to nearly Diamond Springs!

    WHITEWATER RAFTING – located about three more minutes from the Marshall Gold Discovery Historic Park you just read about.

    The following events span multiple months:

  • Farmer’s Market runs May 6 to October 7 from 8am-noon at the Ivy House parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Cedar Ravine Road.

  • Jazz Or Blues in the Plaza runs July to October 18th every Saturday, 1-4pm at the Fountain Plaza (312 Historic Main Street) in Placerville. FREE! Info: 530-622-4900

  • Placerville Speedway runs March to October at the fairgrounds

  • Third Saturday Nightlife Art walk (year round event)6PM to 9PM. Historic Downtown Placerville. Main Street galleries and merchants host changing art shows every third Saturday of the month. For information please call Wythe Gallery at (530) 626-4149.

    AUGUST 10th - 12th Annual Craft Faire 8 am - 3pm

    SEPTEMBER 2008

    Sunday, September 28: 20th Annual Antique Street Faire 8am - 3pm in Historic Downtown Placerville - The Annual Antique Street Faire closes Main Street to host over 100 antiques & collectibles peddlers for this huge event. Food, refreshments, and more. Admission and parking are free. Sponsored by the Placerville Downtown Association. For info call (530) 672-3436.

    OCTOBER 2008

    Sunday, October 5th: Hangtown Jazz Jubilee from 10 am - 6 pm (call for information 530-622-8186)

    Saturday, October 18: Art & Wine Festival from 6 pm to 9pm

    Friday, October 31st: Trick or Treat on Main Street, 4PM to 6PM in Historic Downtown Placerville. Historic Main Street merchants will provide goodies to trick-or-treaters (while supplies last) in a safe and convenient environment. Sponsored by Historic Main Street merchants. Other activities will include a costume contest and carnival and are sponsored by Placerville Parks & Recreation, Placerville Rotary Club and Placerville Lions Club. For info call (530) 672-3436.

    Saturday, October 25: Evening In Art, An elegant evening surrounded by beautiful works by some of the areas most esteemed local artists. Food, wine, music and special appearance by world renowned performance artist David Garibaldi! Location: Mercedes Benz of El Dorado Hills. You can reserve tickets by calling 530-295-3496

    NOVEMBER 2008

    Friday, November 28th: Festival of Lights, 5PM – 8PM on Historic Main Street in Placerville. The old-fashioned festivities will close Historic Main Street and begin around 5PM at various locations up and down Main Street with music, entertainment, Santa, stagecoach rides, Holly Jolly Trolley rides (to outlying parking lots), and the tree-lighting at 6PM at the Courthouse.     December

    12.03.06 29th Annual Christmas Parade on Historic Main Street. This big parade takes place rain or shine and starts at the Mountain Democrat parking lot on upper Broadway in Placerville and continues down Main Street. Sponsored by Jim & Cathy McIntire. For info call (530) 621-5885.
