Greetings!

This page is an ever-changing flow of news – from the FJH Bed & Breakfast Inn or Robin’s Nest Ranch (followed by links to Dels Cowboy Offspring Owner's websites and lastly, our horse buyers program), so please check back periodically for the latest! (Last update: 05/08/08)

Fleming Jones Homestead Bed & Breakfast – 2Q08 News

  • We LOVE our solar power system! One year later, we are still delighted to no end. Chris & Bob did a great job! If you are interested in installing a system, we'd highly recommend them (GreenDragonSolar@Comcast.net) and they do work in a wide area of Northern/Central California.
  • To the enjoyment of those taking the bunkhouse building rooms, we have added new patio furntiture to enhance the pleasure of looking out over the back hillside and miniature horse pastures.
  • If you are in town, we recommend checking out the specialty cheese shop in downtown Placerville - right off Main Street down an alley between the original Thomas Kincade Gallery and the Cary House Hotel. Pairing superbly with their cheese are Jodar Wines (especially the Port).

  • Placerville has many things to do and see or use as a home base for other adventures like white water rafting, wine tasting, apple hill events or exploring the historic Gold Country towns.

  • Visit Things To Do In The Area where there are suggested Local Day Trips or click here for winery/wine tasting information.. Another site with useful to do information is: this Placerville special events calendar and Wine Country things to do this week.

  • Just a few of our many favorite restaurants include Tomei's, The Hey Day Cafe, The Gold Vine Grill, and Sequoia Bee-Bennett House plus many others we can recommend!! Thinking of picking up an out of this world lunch to munch while wine tasting? Stop by "ALLEZ! Good Food To Go!" located at 6180 Pleasant Valley Rd, El Dorado 530-621-1160. If you are looking for great sushi - stop by Shilla Sushi easily accessed off of Highway 50 at the Paul Buynon road exit.

    Robin’s Nest Ranch News

On the show front, RNR Cowboys Little Nemo, home trained, earned two firsts in Open Halter in June. Also, after participating in the 9th annual Artists & Collectors GARDEN TOUR on May 20th and hosting over 400 people (after that number, we stopped counting!)...we thought you might like to see some of the spring flowers on display: click here.

Our 2006 horse show season ended with us taking home 72 awards with 60% being firsts or better! RNR Cassiopeia - Adonis's Last Dance and RNR Cowboys Ted E Bear both earned World Championship Top Tens (plus futurity also). Together with RNR Cowboys Girl Friday, nine Western Championship Top Tens were earned (6 of those were Champion/Top Fives). The two mares took home 8 Supreme/Grand Champion/Reserve GR Champion awards between themselves! The boys (including RNR Cowboys Southern Comfort) earned firsts also. It was a fun show year with HUGE thank you's to Lisa Schmidt & the whole Delta Breeze Training Center gang!

CONGRADULATIONS!! To Kristy Pruett, who just took home her first AMHA World Champion Top Ten Ribbon with her handsome pinto stallion: RNR Cowboys Blue Angel in Amateur Senior Stallions - Level 1. Pictures of Blue Angel can be seen here: click here. Our mare, Affinity, congradulates her son for taking yet another World Champion title - this time the 2005 World Reserve Grand Champion Single Pleasure Driving (making 9 Champion/Reserve Champion titles not to mention all those top tens!). Barnaby also took home Reserve Champion Youth Single Pleasure Driving, 13& Over with Cailin (who showed our own RNR Cowboys High Note to top ten at the 2003 Western Championship Show). Way to go Barnaby, Cailin & Laurie! Pictures of Affinity & Barnaby can be seen here: click here.

We'd like to thank those that purchased horses from us in 2005 including:

  • Kristen, Someday Farms (RNR IMA Cowboy Two & RNR Cowboys Mega Hertz)
  • Kristy, Three Star Ranch (RNR Cowboys Faith Walker)
  • Jeff & Jean, Flying Tail Farm (Chantilly Lace)
  • Mary Jo Moore (Dell Teras Silver Sensation)
  • Shellie Gray (RNR Cowboys Pistol Pete)
  • Steve & Mary Duyck (Bond Piddles & Hunt House Farms Pay Offs Shadow)
May you all have bright futures with these wonderful horses!

Dels Cowboy (and a number of our mares sires) has been recently featured in a wonderful book written by Pat Elder entitled "Outstanding Miniature Horse Stallions, Past & Present" Volume 1. This book has a great wealth of information in it and we highly recommend it to the serious breeder or those just curious about the foundation of the Miniature Horse industry.

For those who are fascinated by the varying coat colors we see in miniature horses, this is a great link provided to me by Barbara Naviaux: Equine Coat Color

Our first foal of 2005 was born on 2/23...and more have joined her. Pictures of Tsu Prize and our other 2005 foals are located here!

    SHOW RESULTS

Did you know that to date, ALL RNR horses (both bred by us or those purchased and shown at the Western Championship Show – competition for the Western 1/3 of the US and Canada) have always earned Top Ten awards?

    RNR Cowboys Kissame
(Dels Cowboy x Rodabi J Hopi Hugme, 31.25")
    Champagne mare Foaled 8.18.02 AMHA # A 137756

Kissame is a lovely, correct mare with a big eye and long stretchy neck. A pretty face with super movement, this mare was shown AOTE in 2003 as a yearling and took Western Regional Top Five in Open Halter, Yearling Mares plus Amateur Jr Mares and AOTE mares awards. In 2004, she was shown by Kriss Colao taking both firsts in her Open Halter 2-yr old mares class and Reserve Grand Champion junior mares. Her dam is an own daughter of that very correct stallion, REHS Patriarch. Kissame has the presence and show horse attitude it takes to be a Nationals quality mare. We expect her to mature around 30.5". Taking home blue ribbons under both judges her first show out in Yearling Mares. At her first show of 2004, Kissame and her trainer, Kris Colao, took home unanimously...Reserve Grand Champion Junior Mares (and both firsts in her class). At the 2004 Western Championship show, they took Reserve Champion 2 Yr Old Mares, 29-31" and she took top ten in Youth 8-12 showing Jr Mares. Shown once locally in 2005 by Robin - taking two firsts in Open Senior Mares, 30-32" and then - unanimous Senior Mare GRAND CHAMPION. Kissame earned Top Tens at the 2005 Western Championship show in Open & Amateur Senior Mares after being fitted here at home and will be entering our breeding program in 2006!
