Placerville Bed & Breakfast

In A Nutshell

A Superior Bed and Breakfast
Superior Bed & Breakfast

The Fleming Jones Homestead Bed & Breakfast Inn is a charming historic 1883 homestead and working horse ranch on 11 acres nestled between art and antique filled Placerville and famous Apple Hill. The bunk and main houses reflect comfortable furnishings and period antiques. Rates include full breakfast, welcoming treats, all have private bathrooms and all rooms air-conditioned. Dogs are welcome in the bunkhouse by reservation. We invite you to enjoy the "Pharms" many comforts or use it as a home base while exploring the local California Gold Country or Lake Tahoe Regions. We are the closest bed & breakfast to both the Fairplay and Apple Hill wine regions and about 40 miles away from both Sacramento and Lake Tahoe; 3023 miles west of Ocean City, MD. Voted One of the Top Ten B&B's; Best for Stargazing in 2004; Best Customer Service for 2005; and Best Kept Secret in 2006! And of course, we have WI-FI (wireless internet) available free of charge! For those who prefer to keep up with news the hard-copy way, you will find The Wall Street Journal and Sacramento Bee plus our local Mountain Democrat available.

Room Descriptions

The main house has three rooms to offer: Lover's Fancy, the Flower Garden Room and the Oak & Rose Room. Upstairs, Lover's Fancy is a spacious room with sitting area and whirlpool tub sharing the balcony with the Flower Garden Room, where our guests can relax with early morning coffee or cold drinks on a balmy day. The Oak & Rose Room, is downstairs and boasts a beautiful antique hand-carved bed frame. These rooms are furnished in lovely French-Swiss antiques in keeping with the heritage of the home with an eye towards comfort and the business traveler (since we are also business travelers ourselves). All of our guests are invited to relax in the Parlor or on the Main House porch and make use of the dining room as desired.

The separate bunkhouse is located but a few paces away from the main house and has a private deck overlooking the horse pastures in the back. It has two separate rooms with private bathrooms, which can either be reserved separately or together as a suite. Old-fashioned cast iron tubs enhance the bunkhouse's western theme of this former working cattle ranch that supplied Placerville prospectors and pioneers with food and produce. On one side of the bunkhouse is the room called the Bunkhouse Room and this has a full sized bed. The other half of the bunkhouse building holds the Woodshed Room. Woodshed pictures coming soon and this has a Queen sized bed.

So What's For Breakfast?

While our menus are ever changing, our breakfasts include traditional beverages (coffee, tea, choice of juices, hot cocoa and etc), fresh seasonal fruit, muffins/scones/breads, a main dish which could be an egg dish/french toast/pancakes/waffles and bacon/sausage. The "Pharm" chef sometimes adds suprises like Lemon Panna Cotta with Blackberry Sauce or fresh Orange Mint Sorbets. More like brunch, we delight in tailoring our menus to your likes/dislikes if warned in advance and particularly appreciate knowing of any dietary restrictions, so that we can make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Our dishes are whipped up with fresh ingredients - many right out of our own garden or from the local Apple Hill growers. For some examples of morning treats, click here.
