Welcome...

If you'd like to skip directly to the Bed & Breakfast information, please click here. Otherwise, welcome to the wonderful world of miniature horses! We hope you enjoy your travels through our electronic barn. In case you are new to these small equines and wonder what in the world you do with them, please click here. Otherwise, we encourage you to read on.

Robin’s Nest Ranch stallions have not only outstanding individual excellence but our main herd sire exhibits prepotency for out producing himself. Believing in going "back to basics", you will find our Foundation Sire (Dels Cowboy) is complemented by not only his outstanding top winning sons, but also a World Top Three stallion whose bloodlines include renowned producers Bond Dynamo, Orion Light Vant Huttenest and Go Forth Little Pistol.

UPDATE!! Congrats to Kristy and RNR Cowboys Blue Angel on their fantastic show in Reno this past weekend (May 5-9th). Taking home firsts in amateur and open halter and RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION Senior Stallion. Yahoo! We've always said our horses just get better with age like a fine wine (Blue Angel is nine years old this year).

On June 6, 2010, we showed Paintbrush Cowboys Moonlight (aka Milly) at a local show in a rather spur-of-the-moment decision. So, clipped and bathed - off to the show we went. Milly is Dels Cowboys grandaughter, who is a goregous 13 year old mare (a photo of our spoils here: Milly Picture) and came home with 6 first place ribbons, 2 Champion awards and more. Yay Milly!

On July 31, 2009, we had a great time showing Emotion & Cassie at the Amador County Fair and met some wonderful folks. We took home a pile of ribbons and had a great time competing with a range of horses including ponies, Haflingers to Quarter Horses. Photos of our adventure are here: Horse Show Photos

Many thank yous to our Bed & Breakfast guests for voting us Guest Favorite - this was a delightful suprise!! And congradulations to Rena & RNR Cowboys Feather In His Cap for taking 2008 Reserve Junior Champion Stallion wins at both his first AMHA show and Pinto Horse Association show!

California Bed and Breakfast

Speaking of suprises...we went outside one November morning in 2007, about an hour after all the horses had been fed, and low and behold...we found Gloria or RNR MH Dawns Golden Glo. Giving us much to be thankful for! Her sire is RNR Cowboys Mega Hertz and dam is Freedom Hill Farms Executive Dawn, Western & Eastern Regional Champion mare. Not to be outdone, RNR Cowboys Silver Belle chose to suprise us with a just incredible fancy, upright foal (who should do great things in the performance arena) born this Mother's Day - while Robin was cooking breakfast. Needless to say, Mark finished cooking the meal on his own while Robin played mid-wife to Silver Belle.

A hearty congrats to Hazel and RNR Cowboys Silver Legacy. Both Silver Legacy and his sire, Dels Cowboy have achieved registration in the IMHPS and hearty thanks goes to Hazel who did the brunt of the work! As of 10.8.07, DELS COWBOY IS THE ONLY U.S.A RESIDING MINIATURE HORSE TO BE REGISTERED IN THE IMHPS!! Not to be outdone, Cowboy's grandson, RNR Rudolph Valentino has made it to the Sports section of the LA Times pictured with former Dodgers Pitcher, Jim Gott (click here for article).

On the home front - we continue to be thrilled with our solar system installed June 2006 by Green Dragon Solar. The first B&B in El Dorado to be solar powered, we have saved the environment 32,390 pounds of carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas) as of Feb 1st, 2008. As of July 1, 2010 we have generated 38,000 Kilowatts of power from our system to date. To view our PV system click here!

We'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to our guests who voted for our bed & breakfast's in the Arrington's Inn Traveler Book of Lists. In 2005, we were voted "Best for Customer Service" and the 2006 award results are in: voted "Best Kept Secret". The 2004 award of "Best For Stargazing" had us searching for a telescope and we finally found one! Sadly, Arrington's went out of business in 2007.

Our 9 broodmares are extremely well bred and their pedigrees are a veritable who’s who in the industry. They are not only outstanding broodmares, but they were also either highly successful show horses themselves or produce top winning offspring. Of the mares we have owned and sold over the years, we have retained at least one offspring to continue their bloodlines in our herd. For example, our herd includes get from the only full sibling to Bond Peppy Power, direct daughters of Bond Showboy, Bond Snippet, Brewers Dynamo Executive, Landrys Cowboy Del, Spunky MS and Winners Circle Adonis; granddaughters of Bond Dynamo, Bond Sir Galahad, Cajun Rebel, Komokos King Tut, NFCS Nashville, Orion Light Vant Huttenest, Shadow Oaks Top Banana, and Yellow Diamond Little Feather. Rounding out that list includes the bloodlines of Flying W Farms Blue Boy, Komokos Mountain Boy and Prince Tennessee Monashee. Producing both World Champion and Top Ten halter and performance horses, our mares have collectively produced twenty AMHA World Champion/Top Ten and Futurity winning offspring. An additional eleven other RNR offspring were shown to top awards at the district show (Western Championship Show).

Robin’s Nest Ranch offers a comprehensive buyers program to provide you with the peace of mind that your future investment is protected. Please be sure to check our sales pages for the latest updates. We do export our horses!

About Us

Robin’s Nest Ranch is co-located at the historic 1883 Fleming Jones Homestead Bed & Breakfast Inn and both businesses are owned and run by Robin & Mark Miller. Thirty minutes East of Sacramento and 45 miles from Lake Tahoe, the Pharm is conveniently close to Highway 50 in Placerville, CA. Here we raise, breed, show and sell beautifully refined Arabian-Type Miniature Horses. (Having downsized from Quarter Horse, Arabian and Tennessee Walkers to miniature horses in 1993.) Purchasing the best proven bloodlines to cross on our internationally recognized and two time World Reserve Champion foundation sire, Dels Cowboy, our horses have been consistent winners in the show ring at both the American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA) Regional Championship and World levels. Robin served two years as the NorCal Miniature Horse Club secretary and as the AMHA Secretary. She served three terms as an AMHA Board of Director for Region 9. Robin also chaired the AMHA Internet/Computer Committee and was a member of the AMHA Genetics. She was also formerly on the International, Championship Show and Show Rules Committees.

The RNR Philosophy

Believing in breeding only the best to the best, we are dedicated to the mission of carefully selecting our breeding stock for the creation of the all around arabian-type performance horse in miniature perfection. With our backgrounds in science and genetic understanding, you will find beautiful, well-pedigreed mares being crossed with Dels Cowboy and his line being outcrossed on our handsome Bond Dynamo/Orion bloodlined stallion. We are producing the kind of horses that are sought after by discriminating owners, breeders and handlers. From great mares come great champions!

RNR Management

Our horses are provided as stress free an environment as possible. Family operated, we provide a well-managed balanced feeding program (including hands on advice from Purina experts) to a strong health care program ensuring that all horses are appropriately vaccinated, wormed, and trimmed. We focus on providing tailored care for each of our horses and attribute such care to our exceptional foaling rates! In 2002, every mare bred to Dels Cowboy in 2001 produce a foal!! In 2006, at age 25 years old, Dels Cowboy produced 7 foals out of 10 mares bred - which is the standard "norm" for a breeding stallion one third his age.

Most guests are welcomed heartily by our Shepherd dogs. They love to visit with people and play with foals.

We welcome you to browse our site or come visit us in person by appointment. We will happily respond to your inquires. Our sales list is updated periodically.
